Collection: CRASH aka John Matos
John "CRASH" Matos (b. 1961, Bronx, NY) began graffiti at 13, earning his nickname after crashing a school computer. By 1980, his work moved from trains to galleries. CRASH curated the influential “Graffiti Art Success for America” at Fashion MODA, gaining international fame. His art, blending traditional fine art and urban graffiti, has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. As a graffiti art pioneer, CRASH highlights that great art can exist everywhere, from train sides to gallery walls.
