Collection: Günther Walz
The painter Günther Walz was born in Graz, Austria, in 1939. He studied painting, Graphit and glass painting under Professor Bäumer at the Academy of Applied arts, Vienna, and is now a freehand painter. Walz has exhibited at one-man shows at home and abroad and has taken part in various group exhibitions. His paintings have been acquired by government institutions and public authorities and by private collectors in Austria, Europe and overseas. Walz derives the ideas for his painting from his study trips, which have taken him to Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, The Netherlands, Italy, Yugoslavia, Greece, Jamaica, India, Sri Lanka, the Maldive Islands, Thailand, South Africa and Tunisia. In his oil paintings, Günther Walz depicts galactic vegetation in a decorative abstraction. Color is used to express feelings, moods and sensations. In his picture object on the "clothing" theme, he tries to show what is at the back of it all, to sensitize the beholder, getting him to reduce the familiar distance between himself and the object, or even resolving that distance entirely, moving from "I" to "You". Günther Walz's watercolors show landscapes and capture the very fascination of the moment. We become aware of the landscape, recognize it, can live and dream in it. We can absorb, perceive and reproduce it with all out sense.
